ANAK Publishing invites writers and artists to submit proposals for original stories that will captivate young audiences (ages 4 to 10). Preference will be given to works that will capture the reader's imagination and evoke emotion. Children's books must include (1) a strong main character who readers can connect and empathize with; (2) teaching concepts that will introduce new ideas such as vocabulary or attitudes; and (3) linguistic and/or visual artistry that will expand the reader's creative understanding.
ANAK Publishing invites writers to submit original and unpublished poetry, short stories, plays, and essays for an anthology of creative writing.
ANAK Publishing specializes in Filipino-Canadian oral history and historical research. Writers are encouraged to send a synopsis, together with a sample chapter, of their current research for possible publication. A list of works cited is also required.
ANAK Publishing only accepts submissions electronically at submissions@anakpublishing.ca. Once your manuscript is received, you will be contacted within two months to confirm receipt of your submission. If ANAK Publishing is interested in publishing your work, you may be asked to submit an author questionnaire listing previous publications, curiculum vitae, etc. We may also make suggestions as to how your manuscript can be changed for an ANAK Publishing audience. You may be also shown a draft contract for reference so you may understand the terms under which our authors work. None of these things constitute a commitment to publish the work. That occurs only when a contract is signed by both parties.
